SPIC MACAY EVENT

To promote cultural awareness among students, Raja Rammohan Roy Academy, under the aegis of SPIC MACAY, organised a programme on Saturday, May 6, 2023, in the school auditorium for nearly 500 students of classes III – VI. The renowned practitioner of Koodiyattam and a disciple of the Koodiyattam Maestro Guru Ammannur Madhava Chakra, Kapila Venu ji performed for the students.

The show commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the eminent artists: the distinguished guest, Ms. Lahiri, the officiating principal, Ms. Bharti Vishnoi, artists and the Headmistress, Ms. Anju Bhalla.

Ma'am Kapila Venu took the students through the journey of understanding the nuances of the Koodiyattam dance form by giving a valuable performance. She showed how the language of dance transcends all boundaries. Her performance, along with her team of musicians and accompanists comprising Mr. Padiparam Rajeev, Mr. Padinjare Parangodath, Mr. Unnikrishnan, and Mr. Alikkal Narayana Guptan Hariharan, left the audience spellbound.

The distinguished guests, artists, and SPIC MACAY volunteers were felicitated with a token of appreciation.

It was an unforgettable life experience for the students as they were exposed to the rich cultural heritage of India.
