National Book Festival organised by the National Book Trust (NBT) 2026

On 8th April 2026, forty six students of Class 12th ,Raja Rammohan Roy Academy visited the National Book Festival organised by the National Book Trust (NBT) in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Education , India at Parade Ground, Dehradun. The visit aimed to expose students to a wide array of literature and foster a reading culture. The day began with a session on AI and Telemedicine : Transforming the future of Healthcare by Prof.Meenu Singh , Director AIIMS , Rishikesh . This session was conducted by eminent environmentalist Mr.Anoop Nautiyal.
The highlight of the day was a special interactive session with Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, India’s distinguished ISRO Gaganyatri and the first Indian to visit the International Space Station (ISS) in four decades.
He highlighted India’s space future, urged students to choose curiosity over fear.
Key Highlights of the Interaction:
Space Journey Insights: Shukla detailed the physical and mental challenges of life in microgravity, including the need for intense daily exercise, and showed exclusive footage of Earth from the International Space Station.
India’s Space Future: He discussed the Gaganyaan mission, India's proposed space station, and the goal of a moon mission by 2040, telling students, "one of you... to be the first Indian to set foot on the Moon".
Messages on Resilience: He emphasized that fear and excitement are the same, urging students to choose excitement and maintain a strong, disciplined, and curious mindset.The sessions, featuring interactive Q&As, left students inspired about careers in space and defence services.
