An educational trip to ONGC (Oil And Natural Gas Corporations) Museum was organized for the students of class XI, of Raja Ram Mohan Roy Academy.

On 23rd and 27th August 2024, students of class XI, along with their respective class teachers and teachers’ escorts, went to ONGC Museum as part of the educational program. It gave them immense delight to step out of school and experience practical knowledge of what is being taught in class from their textbooks. From extraction to utilization, the museum was full of different interesting and practical exhibits. On reaching the museum, the session began with a general introduction of what ONGC does. The students watched a short clip which presented the work of ONGC, both onshore and offshore. The young minds were also introduced to ‘Black Gold’ i.e: Crude Oil.

The session carried on further with different practical exhibits and 3-D models of the Oil Plant, under the control of ONGC, and the Rock Excavations by remote sensing method. The thing that caught everyone's interest and attention was, the first pen drive to be used, that was around 50kg in weight. The staff also increased the students knowledge by telling them about various facts regarding oil production, such as the history of crude oil and the present use of crude oil, in making daily essentials .The students were also told about The Visionary, the first Chairman of ONGC - Keshava Deva Malaviya - who convinced Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to take risk on crude oil. Nehru later inaugurated it and named the place where it was found as Vasudhara: The place where there is a flow of liquid crude oil. Everyone was later shown the preserved fossil fuels such as mammal jaws, flexible rocks, leg bones, fossil tree etc. in a separate fossil room which made the students more curious about the extraction and production of oil. The students were privileged to have such a great session by the ONGC Staff.

The educational trip was a great experience for the students to learn various facts, practically, that overall nourished their general knowledge, which will be helpful for them, in the future.
