Educational trip to the Khalanga War Memorial 2024

An educational trip to the Khalanga War Memorial Site was organised for the students of class12th D on May 14 th , 2024. 

On their way to the memorial site, the students halted at the temple of Rudreshwar Mahadev, where once stood the ashram and training school of Guru Dronacharya after whom  the city was named as the Dron Nagri.

After spending a peaceful time in the temple premises,the students moved to their destination. Passing through the dense Salwoods, the students reached the site of the battle field of Khalanga, where stands the memorial, marking the valor of the Gurkhas.

On the way back to school from the battle field the students visited the memorial dedicated to the British General Gillespie and Balbhadra Thapa, the commander of the Gurkhas . The memorial commemorates the end of the Nepalese domination in the region after causing damages to the British forces.

The trip served as an exciting rendezvous with the characters of the Gorkha History.

It was an enriching experience for the students of Raja Rammohan Roy Academy as it instilled in them a sense of pride and respect for the brave soldiers who dedicated their lives to protect their territory.
