The Doon Girls' hosted an Inter-School Debate Competition on 28th August, 2023. The event saw the participation of 31 schools from Dehradun, each sending their brightest debaters to engage in insightful and thought-provoking discussions on  pertinent topics.

The debate followed a traditional format, with each team comprising of two debaters – one speaking in favour of the motion and the other against. The topics were as follows: 

Group A (class 7 and 8) - " Reading has almost become a thing of past. Why should school revive this habit and what are its benefits?"

 Group B( class 9 and 10) - " Physical fitness should be a way of life for generations to come. It should start in school. "

The students of Raja Rammohan Roy Academy exhibited exemplary skills in both content and delivery. Their arguments were well-structured, supported by relevant facts and statistics, and effectively countering their opponents' points. Both the teams displayed confidence, poise, and the ability to think on their feet during the rebuttal rounds.

While the competition was fierce, the efforts of our students did not go unnoticed. Manas Gulati from class IX won the Best Speaker Award in Group B. It was a great opportunity for our students to engage in constructive discourse, refine their public speaking skills, and learn from their peers.
