Inauguration of the weather station

The Department of Geography at Raja Rammohan Roy Academy inaugurated its newly installed weather station on 19 May 2026 to promote practical learning through real-time meteorological observations. Mrs. Lahiri, School Manager, inaugurated the facility by cutting the ribbon in the presence of Mrs. Bharti Vishnoi, School Principal, Mr. Ashok Prasher, Administrative Officer, and Mrs. Tripti Chopra, Headmistress.

Students of Classes IX and X demonstrated the functioning of the instruments, while the Geography teachers explained how the collected data would be used for classroom learning. The event was witnessed by the students of Class VIII C. The painting and decorative work for the weather station was carried out by the Class XII Art students.

The weather station includes:

* Digital Anemometer – measures wind speed

* Wind Vane – indicates wind direction

* Standard Rain Gauge – records rainfall

* Hygrometer – measures humidity

* Maximum-Minimum Thermometers – track temperature variations

The facility will help students connect textbook concepts with the actual weather conditions of the Dehradun Valley and promote scientific learning through regular meteorological observations.
