Raja Rammohan Roy Academy holds A C Deb Memorial Inter-School English Debate Competition

Debate helps learners to see the power of deploying rational, reasoned arguments and compelling evidence in action. It enables them to elucidate their standpoint through utilizing rhetorical eloquence.

To hone the critical thinking and communication skills of young learners, Raja Rammohan Roy Academy organized the prestigious A C Deb Memorial Inter-School English Debate on 3^rd November, 2022 in the school campus.

The topic of the debate was ‘The world would be a better place if women were to lead’ and it witnessed an overwhelming participation of 42 students from 21 schools across Dehradun and Delhi NCR. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr Mukul Kumar Sati- Chief Education Officer, Uttarakhand and the event was attended by Ms Bharti Vishnoi- Officiating Principal, Ms Anju Bhalla- Headmistress, teachers from participating schools and students.

The judicial panel consisted of Ms Swarleen Kaur- Founder and Director of UK personality school ‘The Talk Room’, Ms Sakshi Gupta, Asst. Professor  at Graphic Era University and Mr Okesh Chhabra- Lead trainer and motivational speaker. All the contestants put forth their arguments skillfully and persuasively and the points presented were accepted by the spectators with cheers and applause. Mansi Bhandari of New Doon Blossoms School was declared the Best Speaker and Sadhna Ramola of Presidency International School bagged the Best Speaker Runner-up. The Rolling Trophy was awarded to New Doon Blossoms School and the runners-up trophy was bagged by Presidency International School. The judicial panel applauded the sincere efforts put in by all the participants and congratulated the winners. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms Neelum Sethi- HOD English.
